The sky had gotten considerably darker as she had approached this area, not to mention the horrible odor of burning sulfur and other such debris. Her strong nose had smelled something quite similar to it before, and so before she'd come across this barren waist land she'd found a good source of water and filled up as much as she could before the massive female moved onward and now found herself smack dap in the middle of a lava field where the smoke that came up through the cracks stung her eyes and nearly burned the pads of her feet. With another snort she kept up her quick trot through the lands, ignoring the spews of lava as she moved along, but in truth this land seemed to fit her rather well considering she was ebony like the land save for the one solitary white spot upon her chest. Golden eyes burned like the lava around her as she continued on, jumping with precise grace she leapt with ease over a small stream of lava that flowed slowly down hill while she herself moved upward.
A deep growl erupted from the chest of the female who walked along, quite similar to that of a large black bear it was hard to miss her given that size and extreme muscular build considering her gender. Many females were small, slender, beautiful, easy for them to catch the eye of a mate but for this female, for Storm it was not so easy. However, that wasn't to say that's what she was after at all. For Storm, this build and size was her key in being the dominate one in any pair. But the real reason she kept up with this type of build was used for more important reasons than such trivial ones. Hunting was one of the more used reasons, for Storm had been known to capture prey that took whole packs. Like deer for example, by sniffing out the elderly, the sickly, or even the young, it was clear that she didn't starve herself.
The most important reason? Storm hunted for something very important, hunted for someone who'd done a great wrong to her and she was the only one left who could ever make things right again. Finally, the beast toped the crest of the hill and looked over, golden eyes catching the site of the flat waist land where the lava flowed in a great mass. A sigh escaped her powerful jaws as she surveyed the area, taking a quick glance to the volcano that loomed off in the far distance she shook her black fur free of the soot that fluttered through the air and hand settled upon her before she growled again. "With all these scents fluttering about...I'm going to loose track of her." Her voice was deep, strong, it held the type of air that was more befitting to an alpha, not a loner. Ears flickered back and forth before she swayed her tail to and fro ones before she continued onward, but this time with a slower pace.

A howl tore from his throat as he began to plummet from the clear spring sky, towards the Earth so very far below; but it wasn’t a howl of terror or even mild fright, it was the sound of exhilaration, of pure unadulterated joy. He fell with his forepaws outstretched before him, with his wings and back legs tucked close to his body. He whooped and shouted his delight to the blue expanse above even though he could barely hear his voice over the wind that rushed and roared about him, that pulled through his fur and plucked at his snowy feathers. His eyes watered, tears drawn out by the speed at which he fell, but he dared not give into the temptation to close them. Faster and faster he dove, the ground growing before him and becoming more detailed the nearer he got. He was so close he could almost count the new buds that peppered the land but it wasn’t until his nose caught their scent that he started to spread his wings. The wind ripped at him as he pulled up, until his descent was slowed enough that he could leisurely glide over the hills.
Once the thrill of the fall faded Daisuke observed the land beneath him with a bored eye, soaring in lazy circles his powerful wings beating a steady rhythm against the air. The place was growing drearier with every passing day; the wolves no longer amused him with their petty disagreements and their pointless squabbling, torturing them wasn’t nearly as fun as it used to be. He needed someone new to pester, someone unknown that he could pry juicy secrets out of. Or, barring that he needed something to keep his mind occupied.
His eyes turned towards the distance, where there was a light that burned against the horizon regardless of the position of the sun. He’d squashed down his curiosity the first time he’d glimpsed the light, but now…Now boredom was pecking at him, like a vulture tearing at his inside and exposing emotions long buried beneath his mask of anger and hate. The curiosity was the least troubling feeling that came up and so he clung to it, letting it stir and bubble within him until he could stand it no longer.
With a snarl of irritation he flapped his wings, launching himself towards where the land burned without the light of the sun, where the sky was darkened and choked with ash and smoke. He flew until his wings tired, then he walked, and then he flew again, dodging the plumes of ash that became more abundant as he neared the volcano. He spent the nights in the branches of trees or, as the land became more barren and desolate, hiding among the rock fixtures that he found scattered here and there. Small clusters of rodents served him as meals when he grew hungry, but his steadily growing thirst went unquenched as he traveled farther from any water source. Eventually the sun ceased to exist, its presence unfelt beneath the black blanket that enveloped the earth. Daisuke’s white fur and feathers grayed, stained by the ash that filled the air, though his left forepaw remained as red and vibrant as ever. His eyes reddened as they were tormented by the smoke and the heat, his body wasting precious moisture in an effort to keep them from drying out. The pads of his paws became blistered the longer he walked upon the heated ground, so he took to the air more often, ignoring the ache that settled into his wings after several full days without a rest.
It was on his eighth day in the barren land that he caught sight of something. At first he thought it was a mindless beast, a bear or an ox. Then he realized, squinting through the screen of smoke and ash, that it was another wolf. A huge male, no…he smelled the air, catching the scent beneath the stink of sulfur and molten rock, a female.
He soared high, following her as she trudged across the wasteland,"with all these scents fluttering about...I'm going to lose track of her."Her deep voice carried up to him, over the bubbling sizzle of the lava that spilled across the earth.
Maybe it was the fumes from the volcano, or maybe his thirst had awoken some sort of madness inside him, but Daisuke found himself laughing at that. He landed, somehow unbothered as the ground hissed beneath his paws, sending up the scent of burnt flesh. For long moments he chuckled, the sound sharp and disjointed, “it takes a truly dedicated fool to hunt through a place as dreadful as this.” He looked at her; except for the red edges his eyes were bleached white by the glow of the lava, making him appear as one who shouldn’t be able to see, “are you a fool? Or is it madness that drives you through the ash?”

The bubbling and sizzling lava was really about the only thing she could hear until the familiar sound of wings against air caught her attention. Golden eyes lifted heavenward to the darkened skies where ash fell like snow to catch the site of one of her kind heading down in a dive as if to land by her. Thick muscle tensed as golden eyes and ebony face remained emotionless and calm, her enormous figure towering over the feathered beast that landed just a few feet from her. From his scent she could tell he'd been flying through the ash for awhile although his white coat showed that quite thoroughly as it was tinged to a dirty gray now.
“it takes a truly dedicated fool to hunt through a place as dreadful as this.” He laughed, making her narrow her gaze at him, tail flickering as she stayed silent, watching for any sign that he may be trouble. “are you a fool? Or is it madness that drives you through the ash?” He spoke again, looking at her with red tinged eyes as he approached her. Lifting her head from it's pretty much hanging position Storm took one last survey of the male before she spoke up to answer him. "I don't claim to be mad nor a fool, I wander where I please." She stated, turning her gaze from him to swing her massive head round to once again take in the site of the volcano off in the distance that once again roared loudly while it spewed out it's liquid fire upon the earth. She was silent for quite some time before she turned her golden gaze back upon the smaller male to ask of him one simple question. "I can smell the airs of lands outside this one on you, so tell me wolf, how far does this fiery waste land go?" Storm would ask, although she was fairly certain she would receive a twisted answer, assuming she got an answer at all. Storm had no reason to stay in the company of others, when or if this wolf answered her question she would again move on in search of what she had been hunting for years.

"I don't claim to be mad, nor a fool.”
Daisuke giggled quietly in disbelief; everyone was a little crazy, and anyone who said otherwise didn’t live long in the real world.
“I wander where I please.”
He could easily understand that, he doubted any wolf would survive long if they dared to displease a female such as the one standing before him; just being in her presence caused anxiety to coil in the recesses of his mind though he outwardly showed no sign of concern. His white eyes watched as she looked to where lava was churning and gurgling down the sides of the volcano. He nonchalantly stretched out his sore muscles and preened as he waited for her to say something more, turning his head to groom the long primary feathers that adorned the outer ends of his wing. What little saliva was in his mouth was quickly replaced by the taste of fire as he licked away the ash that blackened his feathers. Slowly his tongue scraped away the ash, revealing the whiteness beneath; he kept his eye on the female, just in case he’d misjudged her and needed to take to the sky in a hurry.
Finally she turned to him again, her gold eyes glinting or maybe it was just a reflection of the volcano. "I can smell the airs of lands outside this one on you, so tell me wolf, how far does this fiery waste land go?"
Daisuke’s ears flicked, impressed, he certainly couldn’t smell anything besides the stink of ash and sulfur that pervaded the air. He continued preening for a moment, acting as if he hadn’t heard her. Then he raised his head, “you’re not too far from the end” he said with a gravelly voice, his expression and posture gave no hint that the words slipping from his tongue were lies, “without wings it’ll take longer but it’s not more than a few days journey.” He barely even noticed that he was being untruthful, except for the slight thrill that ignited through his body. For him dishonesty was addictive, he couldn’t stop it anymore than he could stop breathing; not that he’d ever want to. Even here in this wasteland, where misinformation could be the death of even the hardiest wolf, he daren’t let the truth slip from behind his clenched teeth.
“So,” he said conversationally, striding to the side a bit his paws daintily touching the ground to avoid buring them further, “you claim to be neither mad nor a fool, how is it you are doing something that is both crazy and foolish?”

The soft giggle that escape the males throat was something that made her turn her golden gaze back to him, watching with a look that could described as very observant and dangerous feeling. But he said nothing and moved to groom his wings in which were covered in the dark ash of the volcano, revealing the alabaster that they truly were. Seeing this, Storm suddenly felt the weight of the ash that had again began to sit upon her already black fur and tinge the white spot that adorned her broad chest. But her attention was soon drawn from that as the male spoke up in answer to her question about how far this land of fire and burning fumes went. “you’re not too far from the end” His voice reached her ears, making them swivel before her eyes locked on his form, strong, and scrutinizing, as if she were sizing him up for battle.
For a moment the news he'd given her was somewhat of a relief, this hot air and burning earth would not sit well with her for long, but she'd had no choice for she too had crossed this way...And Storm would sooner die than let her be bested by someone one year her junior. “without wings it’ll take longer but it’s not more than a few days journey.” A somewhat pleased look came to the massive females face, but still quite serious and hard to pick out from the majority of the emotionless that was her expression. She had already wondered for the past two days, this would prove to be a challenge but not one she would allow to conquer her. "Hem." Nothing more was needed to be said, he'd provided her with a sufficient enough answer although she could somehow feel that this waste land would be a longer journey than what he was actually saying...After all, if it were just a few days, why so much ash upon his white fur? The scent of the airs outside this land were very, very dim on him...Yes, Storm was quite certain this wolf had lied to her, but it wasn't really a large matter for her seeing as how she'd gathered the information she needed.
Once again the black female began to move on, but stopped mid stride as the males voice came to her again, asking yet another question about her sanity or how smart she was. Stopping, Storm didn't bother to look back to him, and for a moment she didn't answer. "When you walk a path that someone else chooses for you," She started but then turned to face the male, golden eyes dark and somewhat angered. "you tend to do many things that are not exactly to your nature."

(OOC: shrug*) “Hem,” and she turned away, not deigning to notice him further. Fury swelled at her careless dismissal, bubbling within him the way magma bubbled within the earth beneath his blistered paws. He asked his question before she’d gotten too far, before the rage boiled up and burst from him. She stopped but didn’t turn at first, for a moment he feared she would ignore him and carry on through the smoke leaving him behind with his traitorous thoughts. Then she said, “When you walk a path that someone else chooses for you, you tend to do many things that are not exactly to your nature.” She swiveled around to look at him; the dark anger in her golden eyes echoed the wrath inside him and cancelled it out, leaving him hollow. He didn’t like the empty feeling, it clawed at his insides and sought to fill him with other emotions that he’d rather do without. He looked to the female again, wondering how best to gain her focus and win her ire. He could ridicule her size, but that would be too easy; he liked to at least be original with his mockery. So instead he chose her purpose; making her doubt herself would be a challenge worthy of his attention. And with his concentration on her he wouldn’t have any to waste on the useless emotions that were howling and screaming from where they lay caged in the back of his mind. Daisuke flapped his wings once, bouncing lightly into the air. “How long can you follow in another’s shadow before their nature becomes your own?” He asked, his tone was scornful, “or do you follow because you don’t know your own nature anymore?” then he rose into the sky, not waiting for her to answer. It occurred to him that he’d need to get water soon, He looked towards the direction the female had come; surely that end of the wasteland couldn’t be very far.

“How long can you follow in another’s shadow before their nature becomes your own?” That question took a moment for her to process, and understand fully what he could mean by asking such a thing. “or do you follow because you don’t know your own nature anymore?” It was clear to her in a matter of seconds that this was not innocent banter, this was an attempt to annoy and or anger her for some reason or another. It was only proven when he took to the air, he was fairly certain that in a fight he wouldn't have the upper hand and that the sky was his only safe haven while he spewed insults in disguise from the heavens. Storm stayed motionless for some time as she watched the male in the air, gliding about with an effortless ease while she remained chained to the ground. It reminded her of better, happier days, of freedom and being carefree. Of course the past was the past and future was now, those thoughts quickly left her mind and came back to the matter at hand.
Storm was fond of annoying wolves who questioned her being or her purpose, but today, she somehow felt...Able to bare this wolves scrutiny. Keeping her gaze forward she lifted her bear like paws from the ground in a rhythmic motion to again get moving and reach a place not so unforgiving. It was then she choose to speak, her voice low, like far off rumbling thunder. "To achieve what I need to, losing my nature is price I'm willing to pay." No more was said and little more would be said about what she was setting out to do. The male was a prying one, one who sought to irritate and so far, he was one step closer to his goal. Of course out of her reach, that didn't mean he was entirely safe. Two could play at this game, and if he chose his words poorly again that was no guarantee he'd like how the tables would turn.

Again she moved as if to ignore him, causing something like sadness to stir in his soul. He shoved the feeling down, letting resentment fill its place instead. A snarl escaped his throat, echoing against the clouds of smoke that enveloped his body as he glided through the air above her. Then he heard her voice, low and muffled by the distance between them, “to achieve what I need to, losing my nature is a price I'm willing to pay." A kinder wolf than Daisuke might have felt sorrow and pity at the certainty of her words, or might have been impressed by her dedication, but the winged wolf felt nothing but disgust.
He soared downward. “How truly amazing,” he sneered, feigning awe as he wheeled in circles above her head, “so willing to sacrifice. I wonder; does the one you’re hunting know you’re after them? Do they sit awake at night listening for the sound of your paws or are they laughing while you trek through hell in search of them?” Because he could only think of one thing that could make any wolf waste their existence in such a fashion, revenge.
“And if you die here without achieving your goal, will all your sacrifices still be worth it?”
Daisuke glanced over as the volcano rumbled ominously, spewing a thick black cloud skyward. From his position in the sky he could see over the lips and into the mouth at the top, where a lake of hot glowing lava was rising with a remarkable speed. Soon it would burst up, drenching both wolves with a rain of molten rock. The earth echoed the volcano with a rumble of its own, and smoke jetted up through the many fissures and cracks that decorated the landscape.
“Fly.” He ordered himself quietly, but he couldn’t turn away. He watched as the lava crept higher, staring transfixed at the volcano.

Storms ears caught his muffled words as he circled above her like some sort of buzzard waiting for her to die so it could go about having it's next meal. But they were of little importance to her or of any real consequence. This male was likely bored, and seeking to agitate someone was possibly his attempt to keep himself from being lonely. Well, he would just have to be lonely, because now he was treading on thin ice and the first step to getting ever closer to his death would be to continue asking her such personal questions. Storm could have turned this around, begin asking about himself, but truthfully? She didn't care, least not in the same way this male seemed to be about her.
“How truly amazing,” He started. “so willing to sacrifice. I wonder; does the one you’re hunting know you’re after them? Do they sit awake at night listening for the sound of your paws or are they laughing while you trek through hell in search of them?” Storm kept her eyes forward as her thick muscles rippled with her trot, moving slowly over the burning wasteland while the male continued to glide over head. She made no effort to look in his direction nor even bother to tell him in one way or another that she'd even heard his question to begin with, she just kept moving. Besides, Storm knew her purpose now in life, even if she knew it would end in her own death. Eyes narrowed as she thought back to the last time she'd had confrontation with her, a furious fight between them but thanks to the efforts of traitor to her pack the wretch escaped Storm's claws. A slight smile came to her black lips as she thought of the terror that placed itself solidly upon her face, watching with horrified blue eyes while she bore her fangs for battle. Yes, she was scared, and Storm was fairly certain that for that female many nights had been without sleep.
“And if you die here without achieving your goal, will all your sacrifices still be worth it?” Yet again, she did not answer him, nor bothered to acknowledge his existence as she continued onward. Storm would not die, she /could not/ die. Not yet. There were not many things in the world important to the ebony female but her revenge was something she could not pass on without. No, her soul could not rest until she saw her dead. Large paws came to a sudden halt as the earth shook, rumbling as if it were about to split in half and causing Storm to look off in the distance to where the volcano sat. Eyes narrowed yet again as the smoke that spewed from the mountain flew skyward, threatening to destroy both Storm and the male if they didn't get out of it's way fast enough. "Hem." She huffed, a sound between a growl and grumble before suddenly, with an almost effortless grace the massive black female sprinted forth as the fissures began to spit out hot fumes and the earth crack. As easily as the male could fly, Storm dodged and weaved through the danger zone as if she were dancing or flying herself.

The volcano continued rumbling, like a beast warding intruders away from its territory. It hissed like a viper, spitting its molten venom into the sky. Daisuke wondered if there was a dragon sleeping beneath the volcano, only waking and arising when wolves dared to get close to its nest. Then he shook his head to rid himself of the fantasy, now was not the time for imagination. Pebble sized drops of lava fell from the clouds of ash, glowing red as they sprinkled towards the trembling earth below. Most spattered against the tortured land but a few sizzled as they connected Daisuke’s wings, burning through feather and fur until they reached the skin beneath. He snarled, tucked his wings against his side, and swooped downward, picking up speed as he dove and dodged the thickening clouds of smoke. The burns would scar and serve to remind him never to give in to curiosity, a permanent reminder that any emotion besides anger only led to pain.
Breathing hurt, each inhale dragged ash and scorching air into his lungs in place of oxygen, making him pant even harder. He glanced down, recognizing the land he’d crossed on his way to the volcano. Hope fluttered against his chest as he remembered a cave hidden in the nearby mound of rocks that he’d slept in; maybe it’d be safe there, maybe it was far enough away from the main volcano that lava wouldn’t be surging up from under the ground.
A black shape tore across the ground beneath him, the female barely visible through the smoke. She made sprinting look easy, effortless. Daisuke gritted his jaw, decisions rolling though his mind. He could just move on through the smoke and leave her to fend for herself, after all a wolf like her would probably survive. Or he could offer his help, as fleeting as it was. He launched himself at the ground, soaring over the female, “Hey wolf! There’s a cave.” He wheeled around in the air without saying more, heading toward the mound of rocks and the possibility of safety. He told himself that he didn’t care if she trusted him and followed, she was no different from all the other wolves he’d met anyways.
He landed halfway up the rock mound, staring at where the entrance to the cave gaped. He breathed deeply, trying to sense if the cave was safe. It wasn’t glowing inside, and he couldn’t hear or smell any lava but that was hardly conclusive; his senses were already overwhelmed by the smoke and ash that clung to the air around him. He folded his wings against his size, wincing as the burns stretched in new ways. He ducked inside warily, not checking behind him to see if the female had joined him.

The earth rumbled as the change in the volcano’s state kept worsening, spitting out hot ash and now small bits of lava and hot rock rain from the sky. Golden eyes squinted as she kept up her changed her pace, no longer running in a seemingly leisurely state and now took to a full on run. As the hot pebbles and drops of lava came down from the sky some hit her, burning through that ebony fur to the skin underneath and burning like a thousand claws to the back. Storm winced, and even growled at the pain but right now her mind was set on finding a safe place to escape the dangers of this burning wasteland.
It was then that her eyes caught the small light shape of the male over head, flying in the same direction she was running. She didn't look for long before he too swooped down toward her, shouting out an invitation to safety. “Hey wolf! There’s a cave.” Her ears pulled back in effort to protect them making it harder to hear him over everything else but all the same the message was relayed. Storm was not one to take the help of another but this was a dire situation as it was, and as much as she disliked the idea of having to stay anywhere for to long with this male made her cringe, she would follow him to where safety lay. After all, she couldn't afford to die as of yet. Glancing to the general direction of where the male flew off to her golden eyes locked on his form, glad that he was such a light color for she might have lost him in the ash if other wards.
With a new burst of speed Storm shot forward, not bothering to dodge the hot fumes that shot from the earth, in stead she ran head first through them, closing her eyes to protect them and feeling the burns lick at her fur. Her paws ached, burned to the point that now they only felt cold and at any moment the bones that carried her would break and ligament would tare. Storm pushed through until finally she caught the shape of the wolf diving and landed upon a rock, folding his wings and wiggled his way into the depths of the cave he'd mentioned. Storm reached the rock mound in a matter of minutes jumping from the ground up to where the mouth of the cave was she took a breath, her lungs searing at the heat of the air and ash she pulled in. Glancing inside she could see that the came was rather small, it would barely fit them both but it was better than being out in the open. As another rock hit her back she growled, baring her teeth before she shook herself and wiggled her way inside the cave to avoid any more burns. With a few, awkward movements, Storm settled herself so that she was facing the mouth of the cave and looking out to the apocalyptic looking world she'd just escaped. "Thank you." She breathed with a sigh, not bothering to look to the male as she spoke, her tone like before seemingly emotionless.

The cave trembled with each roar of the nearby volcano, causing the roof to rain a thick cloud of red dust over the pair of wolves that sought refuge from the blaze that burned just beyond the entrance. It was better than the ash that suffocated the air outside but not by much. Daisuke sneezed, and then shook himself a little before slouching against one of the back walls. In the shadows of the cave his eyes darkened and became blue again as he peered at the female that had joined him in the sanctuary. Where before the small cave had been the perfect size for Daisuke’s slighter build, now with the female’s presence it seemed cramped, claustrophobic.
“Thank you.”
Daisuke glanced up in surprise at the female that was staring out at the entrance of the cave, he hadn't expected gratitude, “you’re welcome.” He said quietly, then his body drooped with weariness as he moved as far back into the cave as he could, his legs and wings trembling faintly. Until right then he hadn’t realized how hard his muscles had been working to keep him airborne. Now he was paying for it as an ache started faintly in his limbs then grew until his entire body was throbbing. He wasn’t a pampered wolf, but he was certainly accustomed to his creature comforts. He hadn’t been prepared for such the strenuous task of flying above an active volcano. Now he was thirsty and hungry and dead tired.. He kept to the walls, providing as much room as possible for the bulkier wolf. He kept his mouth tightly shut, now was not the time for his usual needling games. There was nowhere to fly, nowhere to run if the female decided to break his spine with those powerful jaws of hers. Or maybe she’d just crush his wings and leave him crippled, flightless for the remainder of his existence, he shuddered at that thought. Yes, best not to annoy her anymore than she already was. It was difficult though, ignoring the lies that stirred in his mind, disregarding the mocking questions that writhed and clawed at his consciousness. He barely managed it, forcing himself to study the deep red swirls of color that made up the walls so he wouldn’t be tempted.
The earth continued to rumble, though the sound was fainter now and he could only feel the vibrations beneath his paws if he concentrated. He wondered if the volcano did this daily, threw a tantrum in the morning then quieted as evening settled across the land. He hadn’t been close enough to the volcano during his flight over the wasteland to have seen it before, but he imagined that it must cycle like that each day until the time when it erupted completely.
The stench of sulfur tickled at his nose and he sneezed again, coughing afterwards and making his dry throat ache. The next time he found water, he decided as he curled his legs beneath himself and sank into a lying position, he’d drink so much that his blood would turn clear. The impossibility of that occurring wasn’t lost on him but he could hardly bring himself to care.
His ears ticked as a scraping noise not caused by the rumbling earth reached his ears. Rodents crawled through the hollow earth beneath them, squeaking and digging. Daisuke didn’t bother raising his head, as hungry as he was he knew that he had no hope of breaking through the rock to catch the rodents. He’d probably break the tiny phalanges that made up his paws if he tried. He grumbled, echoing his stomach as he turned aside and closed his eyes.
(OOC: sorry it took so long, I decided that I actually needed to study for my anatomy midterm)

As Storm wiggled her way inside and got settled the once small cavern that could was cozy to say the least for the male became very cramped as she took up the majority of the space available. The white male moved back from her, uttering a response to her gratitude and from the sound of it it seemed he'd not expected such a thing from her. Golden eyes glanced back at the male for a moment before she turned to look back out the mouth of the cave feeling the tremendous ache of her paws starting to set in at full force. She sighed heavily, her bulky figure almost seeming to try and deflate as she looked over her for legs that lay out before her, examining the burns and singes in her fur before she moved to clean them as best she could to prevent infection.
Her mouth was dry, her eyes stung, her paws burned like the devil, this place was hell...No desert she'd ever crossed was as bad as being near this damned volcano. It stung greatly as her toung ran across the tender areas that had been hit by the burning ash and molten rock, but not as bad as her paws which had endured that horrible pain for the past day and half since she'd crossed into the land. The male, almost left her memory, almost forgot he was only a few inches from her seeing as now he wasn't quite as chatty as he was when he was soaring above her, knowingly out of her reach. She was actually quite surprised he knew well enough to keep his trap shut this time around, most wolves who loved to talk and taunt those they knew couldn't win in a real fight normally didn't know when to shut it. This one did, surprisingly enough. But it was no bother to her really, many wolves had told her many things that would try to devoid her from the path she'd chosen to follow in life...But those wolves were different from her, and she knew they would do something aside from herself and although this wolf tried to taunt her for things he wasn't too clear on...More than anything it was kind of amusing to her.
The silence for a long time was filled with nothing but the growls and snarls of the volcano, shooting out ash and spurts of lava every so often. Content with the wounds on her legs now clean she allowed herself to lay her head upon her paws, flinching slightly at the stinging sensation she let herself get comfortable until the sting was nothing more than a low tingling sensation and closed her eyes in effort to ease their pain as well. So long as the male stayed quiet there should be no problems, turn otherwise, well...she was fairly certain he didn't want his lovely wings ripped from his body.
Ooc: No problem, I understand. ^^

Inside the cave the silence stretched, making the ceaseless tumult outside seem so much louder. The hostility of the volcano ebbed and flowed like a tide, crashing upon their location one moment then pulling away until it was just a whisper of boiling earth far in the distance. The heat was still stifling as if the sun had birthed one of its children beneath the soil where he lay, but at least breathing no longer dragged black ash inside his lungs. He could feel the ground shaking beneath him, or perhaps it was he who trembled as fatigue swarmed through him. His eyes watered, washing out the soot that clung to his eyelids and lashes and making it possible for him to blink without scratching his cornea. His ears twitched and his jaw ached from keeping it clamped shut, just another throbbing pain that tormented his weary body.
Eventually the roar of silence proved too much and he opened his mouth, “Daisuke.” He ground out, his voice scratchy like the sound of gravel being dragged across the inside of his throat, “my name is Daisuke. And you?” His blue eyes turned to the female, only slightly narrowed with distrust. He was actually surprised that he sounded somewhat civil, and that the first words out of his mouth hadn’t been an insult that would stir the great female to violence. He thanked his good luck, perhaps common sense was finally making a rejoinder when it came to decision making. He hoped so, maybe then he wouldn’t find himself in dangerous situations as often.
He didn’t really expect a response; someone like him hardly deserved the courtesy after all. He lay his head down upon his paws, curled his wings tight against his body, and gazed toward the female for a while, musing in silence, perhaps if she didn’t give him her name he could make one up for her. Not that he’d tell her while they were stuck inside the cave of course. It’d have to be a good name though, something that brought to mind her raw determination and the almost foolish dedication to whatever cause drove her onward.

The rumbling of the earth was serving as some sort of lullaby at this point...The constant growling and the change in tone was slowly but surely starting to put the massive female to sleep...the soft vibrations through the ground were also helping it along. The pain in her body started to fade and now more than ever her crossing into the wasteland was starting to catch up with her. She did not have the advantage of flight like the male who shared the small cave with her, she had to fight harder to get where she needed to be and this particular trip had taken a lot out of her though it did not show outwardly. This situation reminded her of the very first time she crossed into a desert after her sister, the scorching heat and the dealy things that roamed those lands...Storm had not expected to get out of there alive but she did and never thought anything would compare...How very wrong she was.
At the borderline between continuousness and dreams one thing brought her back and golden orbs opened lazily again as her ears caught the sound of another voice. “my name is Daisuke. And you?” It took a moment for his words to process in her tired look a moment mind but when they did only an ear flicker was her movement before she spoke up. Voice harsh, and slow. "Hem...Storm." Was her simple response, nothing else was really needed. Her eyes fluttered shut yet again as the growls of the volcano continued and began to lull her to sleep again. Then a thought hit her that caused her to open her eyes and almost sit up. She was in a very small den with an unknown, and very strange male...She could not allow herself to fall asleep here, there was far to much danger.
